Direct Energy Offers Another Choice For Pittsburgh Electricity Customers

Pittsburgh, PA (10/15/2012) - Direct Energy announced today that the company will begin providing competitive electricity supply services to residential customers in the West Penn Power service territory of southwest Pennsylvania. With increased competition creating opportunities to shop around for a great deal, customers now have an attractive new choice from North America's largest integrated energy companies.

Direct Energy's entry into the West Penn Power service territory expands its Pennsylvania footprint for retail energy service. The company already has a strong and established presence in Pennsylvania that serves residential customers electricity in the Duquesne Light, PECO and PPL service territories. Direct Energy also serves natural gas to residential customers in the Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania territory.

Specifically, Direct Energy will offer a 6-month fixed rate plan for residential electricity customers in the West Penn Power territory. The current plan is a six month fixed rate of $0.05000 per kWh and there is no cancellation fee should customers choose to cancel. Direct Energy encourages potential new participants that are under contract with another supplier to review their contracts for potential obligations prior to enrolling.

Participants who choose this low fixed rate plan are offered savings against the utility's current price-to-compare on their electricity bills and are guaranteed price protection against rising electricity rates for a full six months. Savings are compared to West Penn Power's current fixed price product and not its monthly variable rate product.
