Furnace repairs heat up. Techs prepare to handle more cold related calls

Sarasota, FL (December 13, 2013) - As forecasters call for another winter storm for some parts of the U.S. this weekend, technicians with One Hour Heating and Air Conditioning® are bracing for more calls. Call volume has been up significantly across the U.S. this season. In some locations, business is up more than 20 percent above normal. The most common calls are for furnace and heating system tune-ups and repairs of non-functioning furnaces.

Prolonged cold also puts a strain on older heating systems and equipment. Those not properly maintained are most at risk. Technicians advise:

  • Change your filters every month or as specified by your system's manufacturer.
  • Make sure your heating system is tuned up by a professional. There are NO consumer serviceable elements in your heating system. A professional tune up can insure your system is working at peak performance and extends its life.
  • Seal up the drafts in your home. Windows and doors are the big culprits. A tube of caulk or weather stripping is cheaper than an oil or electric bill. Clean the outdoor surfaces and caulk from the outside if possible.
