Direct Energy and IU 13 Expand Electricity Program

Program Now Available to All PPL and MetEd Customers in Pennsylvania

Lancaster, Pennsylvania (September 12, 2013) - This past December, Lancaster-Lebanon Intermediate Unit 13 (IU 13) and Direct Energy announced a partnership to offer a discounted rate for residential electricity supply to PPL utility customers located in Lancaster and Lebanon counties. The program, which is marketed to residents as The Direct Choice Residential Electricity Program, is an extension of IU 13's Electricity Procurement Program currently provided to school districts in the two-county area. As part of this new partnership for residents, a percentage of revenue from the program will be reinvested to support the research, development, and implementation of education initiatives.

The Direct Choice Program has been well received by residents and successfully secured over 3,497 new customers since its implementation. Based on that success, the program is now being expanded to all PPL and MetEd utility customers throughout the state of Pennsylvania.
