CPL Retail Energy Donates to Two Charities After CC Hooks Staff Charity Softball Game

Houston, TX (November 3, 2014) - CPL Retail Energy (CPL) staff last week played a great game of softball against the Corpus Christi Hooks front office staff, but the big winners were two local charities each team was playing for: CASA of the Coastal Bend and Folds of Honor.

Originally the losing team would only donate to the winning team's charity of choice; however, CPL Retail Energy decided to make a donation to CASA of the Coastal Bend in addition to Folds of Honor, the charity chosen by the CC Hooks office staff.

"The Corpus Christi community is very important to CPL, and we want to see it thrive, which is why we are proud to give back to the community," said Mike Beck, Chief Sales Officer & Head of Marketing, CPL Retail Energy. "I and my 14 or so other teammates had a blast playing softball, and it was even better knowing that a local charity would benefit one way or another."

The two teams battled over seven innings. After trailing 3-1 in the bottom of the seventh, the Hooks' bats came alive, capping off a 5-3 win with a home run by season ticket services director Bryan Mayhood.

The charity softball game took place at Whataburger Field last Thursday afternoon, October 23.
