Free Smart Thermostats for Eligible First Choice Power Customers

Houston, TX (December 1, 2014) - First Choice Power today announces registration is open at www.thermostatstexas.com for low-income residential FCP customers to receive a free programmable Honeywell VisionPro smart thermostat with professional installation.

FCP will send certified home services technicians to install and test the smart thermostat at no cost to qualifying customer homes. Installations will begin on January 1, 2015 and continue through the earlier of March 31, 2015, or until the program is fully subscribed. The Honeywell VisionPro smart thermostat includes a five-year manufacturer's warranty on equipment.

"Installing a smart thermostat in your home can help save on energy usage, and FCP is happy to bring our energy expertise to make a difference in people's lives," said David Draper, Commercial Director, FCP Retail Energy Residential. "As a part of this community, we want to help those who need help the most."

Smart thermostats are available in limited quantities to current eligible residential FCP customers only, and there is no requirement to enter into a new contract or rate plan. Customers must be enrolled in the Public Utility Commission of Texas' Low Income Telephone and Electric Discount Program (also known as the LITE-Up Texas Program) at the time the customer is authorized to receive an in-home device. To be eligible, customers must be the homeowner or a tenant who is authorized to change the thermostat. For registration and more information, go to www.thermostatstexas.com.

The Public Utility Commission of Texas approved expenditures to make available in-home devices, such as smart thermostats, to low-income customers as part of its approval of the Advanced Metering System (AMS) Deployment Plan and Request For AMS Surcharge.
