Direct Energy Expands Natural Gas Services in Illinois

Buffalo Grove, IL - Direct Energy announced today that the company will begin providing competitive natural gas supply service to residential and small business customers in the North Shore Gas service territory in the northern suburbs of Chicago.

The new service area includes 159,000 residential and business customers located in 54 communities within the northern suburbs of Chicago. Direct Energy is offering multiple termed fixed commodity price plans that will allow customers to keep the same price even if the wholesale market for energy increases.

"We are happy to serve more Illinois residents with the opening of this territory," said Geoff Duda, Senior Vice President, Marketing and Commercial, Direct Energy Home. "Opening up more markets to competitive choices in natural gas enables customers to shop around for the right plan for their needs. With our fixed price plan options, we hope to bring some peace of mind to our customers."

Direct Energy has had natural gas and power operations in Illinois for more than 15 years, and currently has more than 200,000 industrial, small business and residential customers across the state.
