Direct Energy President Bruce Stewart Featured on Lifetime’s the Balancing Act

Today, Direct Energy President Bruce Stewart appeared on Lifetime’s The Balancing Act with Montel Williams to talk about the future of serving energy customers and share energy-saving tips while we stay safe at home. Below is a quick recap of the segment, and here is a video of the interview.

Throughout the pandemic, Direct Energy has kept more than 3 million homes running with electricity and natural gas services. The company transitioned its workforce to a work-from-home model for those that can, and enhanced health and safety practices for the thousands of technicians that have continued to provide in-home repairs and maintenance.  To enable customers to be more green, Direct Energy enhanced its digital capabilities to provide a more paperless experience.

With stay-at-home orders across the country, customers may see some increases in their energy bills. Below are some tips to reduce your energy bills:

  • Turn off lights, and embrace natural sunlight
  • Unplug unused appliances, game boxes, phone chargers
  • Run large appliances that generate heat at night (For example, run your dishwasher and clothes dryer after the sun goes down and temperatures drop)
  • Make sure large appliances are in good working order by changing filters, or upgrading to ENERGY STAR certified appliances
