Direct Energy Offers Fixed Natural Gas Price For Direct Choice Customers In City Of Struthers - May

Struthers, OH (5/25/2011) - As part of its agreement with the City of Struthers, Direct Energy has set a new fixed price for natural gas customers who participate in the Direct Choice program.

For the August 2011 through October 2011 billing cycles, Direct Choice customers in Struthers will pay $6.286 per Mcf for natural gas (exclusive of utility charges and taxes). Senior citizens age 65 or older are eligible for a discounted price of $6.186 per Mcf. Existing participants in the program will automatically receive this new rate.

Direct Choice is a marketing agreement between Direct Energy and the City of Struthers that allows residents and small businesses located in the city to lock in their natural gas supply rate for a specified period of time.

New participants must actively enroll into the Direct Choice program to benefit. To take advantage of the Direct Choice offer, individuals or small businesses need to be eligible to participate in the state's customer choice program and have a residence or small business located within the city limits of Struthers. Further, Direct Energy encourages potential new participants that are under contract with another supplier to review their contracts for potential obligations prior to enrolling.

The City of Struthers also has an agreement with Direct Energy for a natural gas Opt-Out Aggregation Program, a separate program that is available to residential and small business consumers currently served by the local utility. Under the Opt-Out Aggregation agreement, consumers currently served by the utility are automatically included in the Opt-Out Aggregation pricing plan unless they contact Direct Energy to be excluded.
